Setting up with a terminal program
Connecting
The sensor is terminated using a MCBH6M connector with the following pin-out:
Pin | Function |
---|---|
1 | Ground |
2 | Power |
3 | RS232 Sensor Receive |
4 | RS232 Sensor Transmit |
5 | RS485 A (for sensors with a serial number > 3000028) |
6 | RS485 B (for sensors with a serial number > 3000028) |
Communicating
- Connect sensor to power and control system
- Select correct com port
- Select speed = 57600, Data = 8bit, Parity = none, Stop bits = 1, flow control = none
- All lines should be terminated with a CR
Once set-up is complete, turn on the sensor. The sensor will beep once and the following will be displayed:

tip
If you would like the sensor to record the time please set the internal clock
caution
Do not run the sensors in pH buffer solutions. They are for use in seawater - freshwater.
caution
Whenever the sensor is to be powered off, the sensor must be shutdown properly, simply by typing 'shutdown', as shown here:

It is now safe to power down the system
If you are using a parsing script on a connected microprocessor to access the menu functions and change the parameters in the sensor you will need to write a script that issues commands mimicking accessing the Primary Menu.
